TrueBand helps you practise for IELTS. To do that we keep a small amount of information about you and your practice. This page says what, why, who else handles it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We do not sell your data, and we do not show advertising.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address and a scrambled (hashed) form of your password. We never see or store your password itself.
- Your practice: the answers you give in tests, your scores and bands, how long each section took, highlights and notes you add to passages, and your Writing Studio activity (typing speed and accuracy, drill answers).
- Your goals, if you give them: your target band and exam date.
- Basic technical data: when you sign in, our hosting provider records the request (such as your IP address and browser) in short-lived server logs used to keep the service running and secure.
Why we use it
- To run your account and keep you signed in.
- To mark your tests, save your answers as you go, and show your results and progress.
- To fix problems and keep the service secure.
We use your information only for these purposes. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.
AI processing
Some features use AI from Anthropic (the company behind Claude). Today, our staff use it to help turn test material into the format our tests use; that involves no student data. When AI feedback on Writing and Speaking launches, the answer you ask feedback on, together with the task, will be sent to Anthropic to produce your score and comments. We will not send your name or email with it. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, data sent through its API is not used to train its models. We keep a record of each AI request (what kind of task, its size and its cost) so we can watch costs and quality.
Who else handles your data
We use a few service providers to run TrueBand. They process data only on our instructions:
- Vercel: hosts the website.
- Supabase: hosts our database.
- Cloudflare: stores test audio and images (this holds no personal data).
- Anthropic: AI processing, as described above.
Some of these providers may process data outside your country. We rely on their standard contractual safeguards for such transfers. If we add a provider (for example for email or for error reports), we will update this page first.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and practice history while your account is open, so you can see your progress. If you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, apart from anything we must keep by law.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and data. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights, such as objecting to how we use your data or complaining to your data protection authority. Email support@gettrueband.com and we will reply within 30 days.
Children
TrueBand is for people aged 13 and over. If you are under 16, please use it with a parent's or guardian's agreement.

We use only the cookies and browser storage needed for the site to work. See the cookie policy.
